How To Throw My Slider!
 Fastball Grip
"First, let's take a look at the fastball grip. This grip is across the seams and you'll notice that my wrist is straight. The final release point for the fastball is the tips of your fingers.

 Slider Grip
"I hold my slider this way, directly along the seam so that it feels like I am holding the ouside third of the ball. As you can see, my wrist is hooked. Everything about the slider is now set, you throw it just like your fastball. The ball should just begin to spin automatically when you release it. The final release point on the slider should be off the inside of your index finger, as opposed to the tips of your fingers.

Training Grip for the Slider
"To get the feel of how the slider should roll off of your index finger, use this grip and practice at half speed and roughly half the distance to the mound. Try different release points for different breaks on the ball. I threw all my pitches over the top which was important for me because my slider was hard to tell from my fastball at release.

 Slider Release
" Here is how the slider looks at release. It just rolls off of your index finger and begins it's spin which will take it down and across the plate (hopefully). Just remember not to twist your elbow or wrist. It should be thrown, with the wrist and grip set, just like your fastball , slightly off center - with the same velocity and intensity.

Good Luck - Steve
